Welcome to our fourth annual National Youth Theater
Experience! NYTE grew out of the Alabama Youth Theater
Experience (AYTE). For the past 13 years, AYTE has been
giving theatre students from across Alabama the chance to
meet new friends, share their passion for performing, and
grow as artists. In 2023 we welcomed 8 amazing groups to
Kentucky to continue the mission started by ATYE.
Our first year was a huge success with 100% of our
participating groups singing up for Year 2 and doubling to
18 groups in 2024.
NYTE is all about students! Carrying on the AYTE
traditions, NYTE will continue to provide the amazing
opportunities for theatre students while encouraging them
to grow in the skills they love and of course make new
friends along the way. Your students will love participating
in educational workshops, watching their fellow theatre
groups perform, receiving feedback from incredible
performers and theatre professionals and of course the fun
of the Dance Party, Flashmob performance and even a
scavenger hunt.
The goal of NYTE is to bring students and
directors together from across the country. In
order to achieve that we want to provide plenty
of social opportunities in addition to the
competition!
On Friday night, students will gather to
participate in an icebreaker activity to meet
people from other groups!
Our Saturday night dance party will have a
theme and we encourage all the students and
directors to dress up accordingly! We are looking
forward to this event in the Crystal Ballroom.

Those students participating in our NYTE program are not allowed to participate in any outside theatre programs other than their school during our rehearsal schedule. We have found that when our students try to do too many activities it creates conflicts that will jeopardize their NYTE participation. Exceptions will be granted on a case by case basis and must be cleared with Ms. Debbie.
